Carina Walter
Carina Walter, born and raised in Basel, discovered her love for the harp at a young age. When she was eight years old, she received her first lessons from Madeleine Grieder. A short time after that she changed to Karin Frigerio-Hankel, who was to be her teacher in Reinach (Canton Basel) for almost ten years.
After high school, Carina Walter studied at the University of Music in Basel with Ursula Holliger, where she graduated in 2004. She continued her studies at the University of Music ‘Hans Eisler’ in Berlin with Prof. Maria Graf and graduated in October 2007 with a diploma as an orchestra harpist. Masterclasses with Ursula Holliger, Marie-Pierre Langlamet and in the Bach-Academy under Helmut Rilling complemented her education further.
From 2006 through 2007 she was training as a solo harpist with the Göttinger Symphonie Orchester. Since 2007 she regularly performs with the Sinfonieorchester Basel and was the harpist of the Verbier Festival Orchestra in 2009, 2010 and 2011. In addition to her work as a teacher, Carina Walter performs with a number of orchestras such as the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Basel Sinfonietta, Basel Festival Orchester and the Beethoven Orchester Bonn. Carina is also a part of a number of chamber music formations.
