
Filipa Nunes
Born in Madeira, Filipa Nunes started playing the clarinet at the age of 11 with José António Sousa. In 2002 she continued her studies at the “Escola das Artes Eng. Luiz Peter Clode“ with Robert Bramley. She holds a Bachelor degree from “Academia Nacional de Orquestra” in Lisbon, Portugal where she studied with Etiènne Lamaison and Nuno Silva and a Master’s degree from Hochschule für Musik der Stadt Basel, Switzerland where she studied with François Benda.
Throughout her career, Ms. Nunes has performed with various orchestras like Orchestra of Europe, Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester, Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, Portuguese Chamber Orchestra, Basel Sinfonieorchester, Orchestre Symphonique du Jura, Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse, Musikkollegium Winterthur, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchestra, Basel Sinfonietta, Stiftung Animatos Orchester, Bayerischer Philharmonie, Neues Orchester Basel, among many others.
She is the prizewinner of several competitions, among them: Funchal Culture Award, 2013, ORPHEUS Kammermusikwettbewerb, Lucerne (Switzerland), 2012, Marco Fiorindo International Competition, Torino (Italy) 2010, José Augusto Alegria International Competition, Évora (Portugal) 2007, 21st Century International Competition, Funchal (Ukraine), 2007, Prémio José Augusto Alegria, 2007, among others.
Since 2013, Ms. Nunes is a member of the Zürich Opera Orchestra. In addition, she teaches Bass Clarinet at Conservatorio della Svitzzera Italiana in Lugano. She is also a founding member of the Reed Quintet “Reeds in Motion”.
